This year’s Samohi Varsity home football games are scheduled for 7 pm on the following dates:

  • Friday, August 18, vs. Calabasas HS
  • Friday, August 25, vs. El Segundo HS
  • Friday, September 29, vs. Palos Verdes HS
  • Friday, October 13, vs. Mira Costa HS (Homecoming)
  • Friday, October 27, vs. Culver CIty HS (Senior Night/Exhibition)

Home Game 1 2017All students are expected to attend the home games.  If your student has a conflict, it must be cleared with Mr. McKeown the week before the game.

The Viking Marching Band plays pep songs in the stands at all Varsity home games, which we have been told will be played on the Samohi Campus this year (not at SMC).  If anything changes, we will let you know! The band does NOT travel to away games. We encourage you to attend to support our Vikings and enjoy LIVE MUSIC by the Viking Marching Band!

When ticket information is available, we will let everyone know ASAP.  (Marching band students do NOT pay an entry fee, they enter together as a group for free.)

The band does NOT perform at halftime during football games — except once each season, on Senior Night/Exhibition Night/8th Grade Night, which is happening this year on Friday, October 27, 2023. On other nights, they kick off each game with the National Anthem, and then sit in the stands and play pep songs!

Augusta360_Stripe_logoFor most home games, marching band members should wear their football/retro shirts (along with walking shorts, khakis, or jeans) and report for warmup usually around 6:00 pm. They should also wear or bring their jackets, as the evenings can get cooler. Make sure your student’s jacket is labeled with their name!  All students must bring a mask and a reusable bottle full of water.

Once again, Friday, October 27 is the only night that the band will dress in full uniform and perform their field show at halftime. This is a great time to invite family and friends to see the show, as most comps are quite far away. (Read more about comps here.)

Big Brass VMB 2018

This is also the night when we recognize our seniors with medals!

Go Vikings!
